Boating for fun and relaxation is a very popular pastime for many Americans. Recreational boating has become so popular, in fact, that increasing congestion on our lakes and rivers, often presents serious hazards for the recreational boater. According to that law, a boating accident is defined as a situation where someone is injured or killed, there is damage to a boat or other property or a person on board disappears. Such accidents include but are not limited to collisions, explosions, fires, capsizing, sinking or flooding and passenger disappearance. You have forty-eight hours to file a report if there were injuries in the accident, someone dies or disappears and ten days if only the boat or other property was damaged.
